The Sportster

The first TENOR found many friends due to its extremely dynamic handling and its great performance in high-speed flight. It is the “Sportscar” in PHI’s wide range of products.

We have now carefully developed this great concept into the TENOR 2.

The TENOR 2 is a little larger than the first generation. In contrast to the first one, there are more differences between the sisters SYMPHONIA 2 and TENOR 2. The TENOR 2 has different line layout with less top lines (more diagonals), resulting in a little bit better performance.

Even having more complex internal structure, and even having more surface, the second generation of the TENOR lost weight: around 200g!

We are very happy with the safety and it’s direct and dynamic handling.
-and with the sporty characteristics of the new generation.

TENOR 2 Technical Features

The TENOR 2 is a technically very complex wing for its class (low to mid B).
Due to the further reduction of the suspensions compared to its little sister SYMPHONIA 2, it has a lot more diagonal fingers in the interior.

Building on the technology of the SYMPHONIA 2, the sail tension of the TENOR 2 has been further optimized.
The handling adjustment and characteristic also uses the extended possibilities of the B class: this makes the TENOR 2 more sporty.

TENOR 2 Designer’s Note

Even the sisters SYMPHONIA 2 and TENOR 2 are still similar, the difference in the second generation is bigger. It was worth to invest some more time and effort: finally, we found the TENOR 2 to be an extremely well-balanced wing that is a lot of fun to fly and play around with.

TENOR 2 Weight Ranges

The take off weight on the scale includes pilot + equipment + wing.
For normal thermal flying it is recommended to stay in the normal range.
For high wind conditions, strong thermals to fly XC, the extended range offers more speed, energy and possibilities.

TENOR 2 light risers

The TENOR 2 is delivered with the comfort riser R01.
You are free to customize and choose another riser free of charge.
When you want to go for extra light, you may choose the super light RZ1: this is reducing the weight on the tech date list by 285g!

TENOR 2 Q&A

How should the TENOR 2 be packed?

The rods of the TENOR 2 are quite short and not sensitive against bending. You can pack the TENOR 2 without big attention.

What is the service interval of the TENOR 2? Is a trim tuning needed?

The service interval is as usual 2 years from the first flight. Please fill in your first flight in the type table. On the base of our experience with the lines material mix, there is no trim tuning necessary: the trim does normally not change significantly.

Can the TENOR 2 be equipped with the C steering R07 riser?

Yes: you can order the TENOR 2 with the C handle R07 riser. As for all PHI wings you can chose the riser at ordering. The R07 riser is rising the demand, as it is not as easy to be sorted as a normal riser (because of the free ball bearing roll as the B riser). We are recommending the R07 only for more experienced pilots.

What is the extended weight range?

As the TENOR 2 light has a very wide safety margin, we decided to offer an extended weight range. This is offering the possibility to fly the TENOR 2 light with more wing loading, still being in the certification range. A pilot may use this option on days with strong thermals with extra ballast, for strong wind soaring or when he generally loves to fly a high loaded wing for more speed, more dynamic energy and more fun.
For normal thermal flying it is recommended to stay inside the standard weight range.

EXPANDING HORIZONS

The TENOR is a Mid B wing which sets new standards in dynamic performance, passive safety and aerodynamic construction. The additional mini ribs in the leading edge double the cell number in the critical area of the aerofoil. Together with the optimised double zigzag 3D shaping the surface finish reaches a new level of perfection.Although the TENOR is a very robust wing (Dominico 30D/20D cloth and internal stitching of trailing edge mini ribs), the innovative internal construction reduces the weight effectively. This wing is very stable at speed and has plenty of safety when it’s getting rough: the TENOR is built to expand your horizons.
